In a heavy skillet, heat oil and arrange onion wedges in one layer. Brown slowly on each side, while scrubbing and slicing potatoes. Arrange potato slices over onions. Sprinkle with salt and water.
Split polish sausage almost through and cut in 1“ pieces. Add to skillet and heat to boiling. Lower heat to simmer, cover tightly and cook for 10 minutes. Scatter frozen beans over top. Cover and continue cooking 10 minutes or more until all is tender, adding water if necessary. With browning of the sausage and small amount of water, this makes its own gravy.
